1)- BE A ROLE MODEL TO THEM
As a parent, you are the most important teacher to your children, and it’s up to you to make them love learning. If you want your child to get into the habit of reading, then read a book.
2)- REWARD THEM
Speaking of rewarding, the main idea is not rewarding their achievements. This can be counterproductive if you reward your children only for their success or punish their failures. Reward your child’s effort and enthusiasm. Even words of love and appreciation will be enough to motivate them.
3)- ASK QUESTIONS
Ask your children how their day went and what they learned at school, then listen without interruption. This interest and curiosity of yours will create an excitement especially in young children. Doing so will make them proud of their new knowledge and they will enjoy the opportunity to teach some things to their parents!
4)- ENCOURAGE FRIENDSHIP
Socialization is an important part of a child’s development. Tell your kids that they can bring their friends home whenever they want. Ask questions about their friends and encourage your children to make new friends. Having a good network of friends can make children look forward to going to school.
5)- INVOLVE THEM IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
One of the ways to make school more fun is to have your child participate in an extracurricular activity. Clubs and teams will give your child something to aspire at the end of the day. It is also a great way to reduce the stress of your child poses during the school.
6)- DON’T BORE THEM
Although we have talked about the necessity of activities, it should be dosed. Music lessons, football training, art lessons, karate tournaments… Such intensity will overwhelm your child contrary to what you want to do. Do not try to fill all of your child’s free time with a busy schedule, leave breaks for them to rest.
7)- ALLOW THEM TO WORK FREE
You may think that the most suitable environment for doing homework should be the quiet one. Or that your child should be alone. However, many children enjoy doing homework more on the kitchen table or in the hallway. Let your child choose where to do their homework.
8)- BE IN COMMUNICATION WITH
Make the communication at home comfortable. In a school fight, or a problem with their teacher, keep your reaction balanced so that your children don’t think they should hide something from you. Let your aim be not to question them, but to enable them to explain his troubles.
9)- HELP THEM TO STRENGTHEN THEIR KNOWLEDGE
If you notice that your child is interested in a particular topic, don’t ignore it. For example, if your child is interested in fossils, use sand and a few toys to make an experiment with him/her, and take him/her to museums. Give them real examples from life for the information they have learned in school.
10)- HELP THEM START THE DAY
It is common to start the day negatively for adults. However, if you are cranky in the morning, this attitude can affect your children as well. Make sure your voice is enthusiastic. This is not always easy, but help your children have a pleasant day by sending them off with a smile!
