1)- SATURN
Saturn is named after the Roman mythology god of agriculture and harvest, Saturnus.According to legend, Saturn introduced agriculture to the people by teaching them how to cultivate the land. The astronomical symbol of Saturn “(♄)” represents the sickle of the god.
2)- CHARON
Charon, Pluto’s largest moon, is named after the Kharoon, the boatman of the dead souls of Greek mythology.Kharoon transports dead souls to Hades and the realm of the dead through the Styx and Acheron Rivers.
3)- URANUS
Uranus is named after God Uranus, also known as the God of Heaven in Greek mythology. Is the son of Aether and Gaia, husband of Gaia, and one of the first gods in Greek mythology. Is the ancestor of the Greek gods. Has a cosmic power. Uranus is also depicted as in relation to space.
4)- MERCURY
Mercury completes its orbit 1.6 times faster than Earth, so it is thought to be named after Mercury, also known as the god of speed.
5)-MARS
The planet Mars is named after the Roman god Mars. The god of war and who is also regarded as the protector of Rome.It seems that the planet Mars owes its red color to a god of war and fire.
6)-TETHYS
Tethys, one of Saturn’s moons, is named after the Greek sea goddess, mother of rivers, mother of three thousand daughters called Oceanids, Tethys, which is said to be the incarnation of the world’s waters.
7)-NEPTUNE
Neptune got its name from Neptune, the god of the seas in Roman mythology, due to its color.Another name suggested by astronomers of the era for Neptune is Oceanus.
8)-VENUS
Venus, the brightest planet in the night sky, is named after Venus, the goddess of love and beauty in Roman mythology.
9)- HELENE
Helene, one of Saturn’s moons, is named after a female warrior from Greek mythology who was beautiful enough to start the Trojan War.
10)- TITAN
Titans are the names of the ancient giants in Greek mythology.Once thought to be the largest planet in the solar system, Titan got its name from these ancient giants.
