Lamarr, an Austrian-born American actor, filmmaker, and inventor, invented the Frequency-hopping spread spectrum. Her invention was incorporated into today’s indispensable technologies such as Wi-Fi, CDMA, and Bluetooth technologies.
2)- ELLEN FITZ
Fitz, a teacher in Canada, designed a sphere in 1875 that shows not only the day and night, but the changing daylight, twilight, and nighttime of every point in the world.
3)- MARIE VAN BRITTAN BROWN
Brown’s security system formed the basis for the two-way communication and surveillance features of modern security. Her original invention consisted of peepholes, a camera, monitors, and a two-way microphone. The last element was an alarm button that could be pressed to contact the police immediately.
4)- SHIRLEY ANN JACKSON
The second woman in the US that studied for doctorate in physics, Dr. Jackson is a theoretical physicist. She has led to the development of fiber optic cables, push-button phones, caller ID and call waiting technologies.
5)- MARY ANDERSON
Anderson observed that tram drivers had to open their windows often to see in inclement weather, sometimes even stopping the tram to clean the window. So, she invented the windshield wipers.
6)- MELITTA BENTZ
Tired of cleaning the coffee grounds in the coffee pot, Bentz drilled a few holes in the bottom of a brass bowl and placed a paper funnel on it. This practical solution created the world’s first coffee filter.
7)- JOSEPHINE COCHRANE
Cochrane, a wealthy woman, began to think of a solution as her servants often broke her precious porcelain and were tired while washing the dishes. She designed and materialized the first water pressure-operated dishwasher.
8)- MARION DONOVAN
Donovan, the inventor of disposable diapers, made a diaper cover to keep the baby’s under dry. Unlike other diapers on the market, her product was made from a fabric that allows the skin to breathe and also included snaps instead of safety pins.
9)- MARY SHERMAN MORGAN
Morgan, who paved the way for the space travel era, worked on rocket launch technology. In addition, Morgan was the only female researcher in the 900-person team appointed by the USA.
10)- PATRICIA BATH
In 1986, Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe, which improved the treatment of cataract patients. She patented the device in 1988 and became the first African American female doctor to obtain a medical patent.
